  • A midtown shooting has ended with one man dead.

A double shooting in midtown Wednesday afternoon has left one person dead and another injured. That news comes from the Star, which tells us that police hit the scene at East 31st and Gillham Plaza around 1:15 p.m.

One of the shooting victims was found at a Jiffy Lube and the other across the street at a 7-Eleven. KMBC Channel 9 tells us that the man who wasn't killed was shot in the leg. Not to be an alarmist, but if you live in Kansas City and haven't left your home today, don't do it.

There's a pattern here, people. It's not even rush hour, and Kansas City police have shot and killed a suspected "prowler." Independence police have killed a man involved in a domestic disturbance. A woman may have been abducted in Independence. And now we have a shooting in midtown.

When I get home, I'm barricading the door and hiding under the covers. For real.
