UPDATE: The victim of Tuesday morning's homicide at Inner City Oil has been identified as 25-year-old Sujendra Amarasingham. Read the update after the jump.

Original Story (December 28): Kansas City police are investigating the city's 104th homicide of 2010 Tuesday morning after a customer made a gruesome discovery. A man was found shot to death inside the Inner City Oil gas station in the 5900 block of Swope Parkway around 5 a.m. The victim is described as a white male in his forties. Police believe the man was an employee of the gas station.

Police haven't released any suspect information at this time. As always, if you know something, give the TIPS Hotline a call at 816-474-8477.

This is the third year in a row that KCMO's homicide total has topped 100 (110 in 2009 and 126 in 2008). That breaks down to about two homicides a week. When will the people of this city decide this is unacceptable?

UPDATE: Kansas City police are now saying the victim of this morning's homicide

was a man in his mid-twenties and was working at the gas station when

he was shot to death.

UPDATE II: Kansas City police released two surveillance camera photos in hopes the

public an help them solve Tuesday morning's convenience store homicide.

UPDATE III: The victim of Tuesday's homicide was a senior at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and from Sri Lanka, the Star reported. The college student was taking out the trash when he was ambushed by the robber, who shot him and then stole merchandise from the store.

That wasn't the only heartless act. The guy seen in the three surveillance videos above reportedly walked into the store, saw the clerk dying on the floor and allegedly robbed the register. He couldn't be bothered to call for help.
