This morning, Metropolitan Community College's Pioneer Campus was placed on lockdown while police investigated a shooting that happened nearby.
KMBC reports that around 8 a.m., one man was shot at 24th Street and Drury Avenue. The suspects fled in a stolen white vehicle while police chased it to 18th Street and Benton, where the car crashed into a taxi cab. The suspects ditched the car and ran.
The
victim's injuries aren't thought to be life-threatening, and no one from
the neighboring school is thought to be involved. The college's lock-down was
lifted around 9:30 a.m.
An hour ago, Fox 4 News reported, police found one of the suspects and took him into custody. His partner in crime is still at large, and the canine unit is trying to sniff the suspect out. The two men are also thought to have been involved in a residential robbery that happened early this morning.
