Kansas City police officers will now have to wear their seatbelts or be annoyed by a never-ending beeping alarm. The Star reported that police mechanics no longer will be allowed to disable the alarms, which beep until officers buckle up. This comes after last week's do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do news that some officers don't click it but don't get tickets.
Deputy Police Chief Cy Ritter reportedly told Kansas City's police board
that all patrol cars will be inspected to ensure that the alarms are
working.
Many officers claimed that they don't strap in because they fear it'll stop them from reaching their guns or getting out of their cruisers fast enough. Some even told the paper that they'd nearly been killed by gunfire because they were buckled up. It's a duck-and-cover deal that's hard to argue with. But that rationale wasn't good enough for police commanders.
Even the watchers are being watched (or, at least, annoyed into compliance).

"Some even told the paper that they'd nearly been killed by gunfire because they were buckled up." Bull S !
People use all kinds of excuses for not wearing seat belts.
"But I've got an airbag."
"I'm afraid the belt will trap me in the car."
"I'll just brace myself."
"I'm a safe, careful driver."
"I'm only going to down the road."
Since the Cops don't wear them can I have a refund for my seat belt ticket. I was driving in Midtown and felt I might have to duck a stray bullet or two. I felt I could get killed wearing a seatbelt.

HOWEVER !!!!!
Kansas City Police Tangled Over Seat Belts. Video from the patrol car's interior revealed that the officer's head likely knocked against his partner's. Neither officer wore a seatbelt!
Typical KCPD Hypocracy. .
