Former Kansas City Royal Coco Crisp was arrested last week on suspicion of drunken driving. Crisp wasn't exactly flying below the radar. He was cruising around Scottsdale in a black 2009 Rolls Royce around 2:15 a.m., and by cruising, he was reportedly unable to stay in his own lane.

No word on whether he was wearing a monocle and a top hat at the time. But Crisp apparently wasn't alone.

According to the Arizona Republic, Crisp was being followed by armed personal security guards that he described as the "Secret Service." Police noticed that a Dodge pickup truck followed behind Crisp in his Rolls and pulled over when Crisp stopped.

From the Republic:

When the officer asked Crisp if he knew the occupants of the truck, he said "there were some issues with some people so the Secret Service was providing security," the report said.

Two men in the truck confirmed they were Crisp's armed private security, police said. The officer wrote that Crisp's eyes were bloodshot and watery and there was "the odor of an intoxicating beverage emitting from the vehicle."

Crisp told officers he had been to Ra, a sushi restaurant, and

Smashboxx, both in Old Town Scottsdale. He drank wine and champagne, he

said. He was on his way to drop off a friend at a hotel in Fountain

Hills.

Crisp reportedly blew a 0.130 percent blood-alcohol content in a

preliminary breath test.

He was cited for a blood-alcohol content of 0.08 percent or more,

driving with an expired registration, failure to drive in a single lane

and no proof of insurance.

This black eye doesn't belong to the Royals, where Crisp only played one season. Crisp signed with the Oakland A's in December 2009.
