There are still 30 unsolved Kansas City homicides from 2010, and the Kansas City Police Department is looking for help. The department has posted online reports including photos of the crime scenes and victims, detectives' phone numbers and information about each murder.
Capt. Floyd Mitchell, commander of the homicide unit, explains on the department's website that the KCPD is trying to strike a balance of providing as much information as possible to draw in assistance from the public without putting the investigations in jeopardy. And, yeah, there is a wide range of info available on the cases, which span from January 3 to December 6.
On the one hand, you have murder victim Kenny Warren, killed the night of August 13. The entire report reads:
Kansas City Police Officers were dispatched to a party down.Upon arrival they found the victim lying on the sidewalk. The victim
was found to be deceased from a gunshot wound.
Victim Bernard
Jackson, killed March 30, though, has a report with quite a bit more
information:
The victim had just arrived at the residence and exited hisvehicle when he was confronted by the suspect who pointed a handgun and
forced the victim into the apartment. Upon entering the apartment the
victim began to wrestle with the suspect who then shot the victim. The
victim's watch (pictured above) was taken at the time of the offense. An
eyewitness was able to provide a description of the suspect (composite
drawing above).
In addition to yet-to-be-solved murders from last year, KCPD also has
posted a pair of somewhat recent cold cases, including a bystander struck by a stray
bullet at 39th and Broadway in 2007, and a 2002 murder victim whose body
was never recovered. As always, if you know anything about the unsolved murders, call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477 or the detectives listed on the reports.

I agree with SOS.
Anything KCPD can do to keep from having to actually get out of the car.
KCPD is nothing but smoke and mirrors.
Just the latest in a long line of PR gimmicks from the KCPD. In fact, that's probably about what they're best at and get a chance to regularly practice glitzy presentations by snowing the clueless police board on a regular basis.
All of the perpetrators of these homicides are known by someone, and probably by quite a fe people. Do the cops actually think some of the bangers ae going to go to the library and go online to "snitch"?
The KCPD will apparently try just aabout ANYTHING other than good old-fashioned community policing and developing relationships with residents in neighborhoods.
And the appalling results stay the same year after year.
Take you pick. Killa City or The Murder Factory.
Kansas City home to crime and violence.
Maybe the capt. can take some time away from his real estate endeavors and help the homicide unit.

Maybe they can get those Homicide detectives some cell phones if they weren't spending thousands at the Plaza eating fancy meals.
