  • Kansas' tornadoes are more dangerous than yours.

Kansas and Missouri will both hold a statewide tornado drill this afternoon at 1:30. So when the sirens wail and all of the out-of-towners, here for the Big 12 tourney, start running for cover, you can keep your cool in the beer line at Power & Light.

Because we're sitting on the Missouri side of the state line, rest easy with this fact: Kansas is home to the most dangerous tornadoes.

Meteorologist Jon Davies counted up which state had the most EF-5 tornadoes in the country since 1880, and the Sunflower State is No. 1, KMBC reported.

In 130 years, 14 EF-5 tornadoes touched down in Kansas with the most recent one killing 10 people and nearly wiping Greensburg off the map (the town has rebuilt in a much greener way).

So when the sirens go off, as you were.
