Mike Anderson is officially the new head coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks. This has to sting after the coach had gone so far as to say he'd like to be at the University of Missouri for a long time and retire from coaching there. But Anderson's loyalty was always in question after flirting with Oregon and Georgia.
Anderson hasn't spoken with the media yet. His only comments appeared in a press release from the University of Arkansas.
"It is a tremendous honor to be named the head men's basketball coach at the University of Arkansas," Anderson said in the statement. "I want to thank Chancellor (Dave) Gearhart and Athletic Director Jeff Long for this opportunity to lead the Razorback basketball program. I am extremely excited to once again be a part of this special university and Razorback Athletics. With the continued passionate support of all Razorback fans, I am confident that we will have the opportunity to succeed on and off the court and continue to build on the University of Arkansas' championship tradition."
Also in the statement, Anderson said his family will always be thankful for the opportunity that Mizzou gave him.
The Star's list of replacements includes Missouri State's Cuonzo Martin, Purdue's Matt Painter, Butler's Brad Stevens, Wichita State's Gregg Marshall, VCU's Shaka Smart, Alabama's Anthony Grant, Memphis' Josh Pastner, St Mary's Randy Bennett, Colorado's Tad Boyle and Dayton's Brian Gregory.
The St. Louis Post Dispatch's list includes Painter, Martin, Georgia's Mark Fox and Northern Iowa's Ben Jacobson.

It was to be expected when the Arkansas job came open...too much history there. Too bad he played all the games...just a lack of class.
As to a new coach..I think the Star missed an obvious choice, if he could be convinced to come back, and that's Kim Anderson. What Mizzou really needs is a dose of old-time Norm Stewart attitude. And Kim could certainly provide that.
