  • Gevante Anderson: convicted killer.

A jury found Gevante Anderson guilty Monday of killing his

ex-girlfriend, her nephews and her new boyfriend in March 2009. The Kansas City Star reported that the verdict came after

just 90 minutes of deliberations.

The bodies of

33-year-old Andre Jones, 21-year-old Precious

Triplett and her nephews, 10-year-old Amir Clemons and

7-year-old

Gerard Clemons were found in a Raytown apartment near 61st Street

and

Raytown Road on March 16, 2009. Anderson's 1-year-old son was

found unharmed at the crime scene, wandering around the dead bodies. The details of the slayings are just gruesome.

From the Star:

Amir had been shot and stabbed more than 40 times. Gerard had been

stabbed 131 times, including defensive wounds. The boys were found next

to each other on a ransacked bedroom floor.

Prosecutors reportedly painted Anderson as jealous and enraged when he went to the apartment. However, Anderson's defense argued that there wasn't any forensic evidence linking Anderson to the crime scene. The defense also argued that a key witness, Anderson's cousin Rocky Bradley, lied repeatedly to police, and, according to the Star, the defense tried to make him into the real killer.

But there was other evidence. Like the eyewitnesses' testimony that a man matching Anderson's description was seen at the apartment complex around the time of the slayings. A woman testified that "she twice made eye contact" with the man, who was driving a green Chevy Lumina -- the same make and model of a car that Anderson was known to borrow from his grandfather. Anderson's grandfather and another cousin also couldn't account for Anderson's whereabouts at the time of the killings.  Prosecutors also reportedly presented evidence that a cell phone belonging to Anderson's father made four calls near the crime scene.

Just gut wrenching.

I'd have to agree. I grew up with Gevante "Fella" Anderson and I find it hard to believe that he did any of this. I've known this man for years and I'll be the firs to tell you he wouldn't bust a grape in a food fight. He just wasn't that type of person. Now people do change, so I'm not saying that its not possible that he did this. I am saying that I'd need more convincing evidence than this circumstanstial evidence that they used to convict him. When you consider the publics outcry for just and peoples perception that he did based off his arrest, than you know he never stood a chance in court. He was convicted before he walked through the door and the trial was really a formality. No disrespect to the families that lost their loves ones because I feel their pain since I've been through it. But truth is truth. I can't and shouldn't be ignored. There really should've been more evidence to convict him. There was too much reasonable doubt for any "neutral" juror to convict honesty. I pray for all involved.

It seems that there is a good amount of "reasonable doubt" about if this person was the actual offender. I saw that the other person's DNA was on the victims cell phone. How does THAT happen? When you already think something in your head its easy to convince yourself that is reality, but the evidence here just didnt make sense. I cant figure out how the relative wasnt arrested. He seemed to know so much that it appeared HE was there. If I were in an interrogation for the death of my kids dad, I wouldnt have any emotion because I practically hate him. Too bad that he would be dead, but would I be emotional? Not at all.

This is really sad and if this guy is innocent, I pray that God will make it work out for him. I'd hate to see an innocent person rot in jail, and all because he wasnt "sad enough" when looking at photos or in an interrogation.

A blind man could see there was more than One (1 ) person involved. Jesus was crudified nailed to the cross and didn't say a mubling word. think about it.

if you had sit in that courtroom like I did and observed his interrogation video, as well as footage of him going about his day looking over his shoulder every second to see who was watching you would. Then there was his demeanor in the courtroom, winking at family members of the victims, looking at the crime scene photos and autopsy photos with ease, even looking as if he had a smirk. This was my sis and nephews, and i know without a doubt he did this. America is so far gone that they have forgotten that crimes were solved long before DNA and trace evidence.

Shame there really wasn't any good evidence in this case.. I even think I wanted the Guy to be guilty but as far as the law is concerned , the evidence didn't support a guilty verdict.. Kinda false closure for the family.. Cause what if an ex no one knows of are even the other young man had some things going on.. Who really knows without a shadow of a doubt the real killer.. Can't say after that RRIAL. If I even do.. Just BAD all around.
