We have to admit, when Bazooka's Showgirls invited us to a dress rehearsal of their new burlesque show, "Frivolitease," we had low expectations. The word "burlesque" has been bandied about so often with so many performers in the last few years, we didn't expect more than a halfhearted fan dance and a few limp tassels attached to titties that didn't care to shake.
Were we wrong. This show rocks. (Click the photo to see the slideshow.)
For the last two months, dancers have been honing classic burlesque routines and more contemporary acrobatics in ways that remind you why burlesque is an art form. Goddamn if these women didn't put their hearts into everything, from elaborate costuming to creating a human centrifuge with just two strips of silk and a too-tight corset. The show plays this Friday and Saturday nights at the 17th and Main club. Check out this slideshow of the dress rehearsal if you're still not convinced, and thank us Monday. You're welcome.

Bazookas is a fine establishment that never sold alcohol in the first place and the women involved in this show have been working very hard on this show since January. I applaud them for all their hard work. And Kansas_Voter, they are working just as hard with trying to reverse these senseless stripper laws by keeping very involved with the issue at hand.
I thought that republicans were supposed to believe in small government and personal responsibility, but I guess that they're just a bunch of hypocrites.
could be the world's first non-alcoholic burlesque show!
