Sam Graves beers his way through budget negotiation

Sometimes politicians just make it too easy to rain down ridicule on them. Missouri Republican Rep. Sam Graves illustrated this point all too well Friday night during pitched negotiations to avoid a government shutdown.

While Speaker of the House John Boehner and President Obama were duking

it out over funding -- and as families were desperately praying that they could

still drag their kids to the Washington Monument -- Graves and presumably

his staff were tipping a few on Friday night. A congressional staffer sent Gawker a photo at right of the exterior of Graves' dorm room office littered with five empty Miller Lite and Bud Light cases and a pizza box.

But aside for opening our state up to a barrage of Missourahh hick

jokes, we can't be too hard on Graves. What else was he supposed to do

while waiting for a last-minute deal? After all, Washington, D.C.'s

social calendar doesn't screech to a halt as easily as the federal

government does. Hell, Michigan Democrat Rep. John Dingell reportedly

showed up for the vote in a tuxedo.

The really upsetting thing

about Graves' behavior is that he wasn't drinking Boulevard. Maybe it's

not sold in D.C.? Or Graves is walking the fiscal conservative talk

really well.

I know why they call the Republican the rich party and I agree after seeing what is going in the
Senate,  I think it is time for the rich to pay their fair taxes as the poor people all the time it is time to get rid of their tax break.  I thought you were a great repressentative.  I am sorry now that I voted for you.  It was okay when Vice president Chenay thought it help the economy to increase the deficient, but when the democrats do it bad.  I think you need to leave the social security and medicare alone. Obama has a good plan, but the republicans are fighting and  I don't believe all American with you.  I think  it is time you stop
working just for the rick.

Not exactly top flight investigative reporting here. That's an awfully big "presumably" in "Graves and presumably his staff were tipping a few ."

Wow, someone is awfully sensitive considering this is going to barely register a chuckle on any sane person's radar... Who cares if someone did set it up? It's not like anyone serious actually expected a Republican to be working after 5, Boehner's got a happy-hour circuit to catch...

A, How do you know it was Graves and his staff drinking...? That crap could have been put there by some idiot from a Dim Staff.....a picture snapped...then sent out to media outlets to see which sucker was the first to post it...

B. Who cares other than you Lib...? If they were in fact drinking and weren't in the direct process....what they hell were they supposed to do you morons?

C. Blvd Beer isn't sold in DC. Perhaps you should go to Blvd's web site? It clearly shows where their market is via their zip code find our product tool.

D. Nice piece of "Investigative journalism" on your part....... Par for the course.....
