UPDATE: Wow. A $7,500 reward is being offered to find whoever killed a couple of pit bulls and dumped their carcasses in a Dumpster at 31st and Campbell. Also, a moment of silence is being held at 6 p.m. Thursday (April 21) at the southeast corner of 31st and Campbell (it's being put on by Spay & Neuter Kansas City, Wayside Waifs and Halfway Home Pet Adoptions).

"It's obvious that these puppies suffered horribly," SNKC president Michelle Rivera said in a statement. "Spay & Neuter Kansas City is deeply saddened by this. We hope the community will not tolerate this abuse and will step forward to report information about those responsible."

Original Story (April 19):
Brutal story from KCTV5 that will make any dog lover sick. Two malnourished pit bulls were found in dog-food bags in a Dumpster behind a building at 31st and Campbell.

KCTV5 reported that P.J. Ruth was walking out the back door of her office Monday when she saw a man put something in a Dumpster. She didn't realize what was in the Dumpster until she saw the dogs' legs sticking out of the bags -- and what she saw from there was a bloody scene.

Via KCTV5:

A source told KCTV5 that the dogs were skin and bones from being

malnourished. The source said one of the dogs had been hit with a blunt

object and the other had been shot.

The only way police will get involved is if the dogs showed signs of

foul play (that is, were used in fighting).

Spay and Neuter Kansas City is offering a $1,000 reward for info leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever did this.
