Tomato-growing operation 'busted' in Missouri marijuana roundup

  • Tomato growers be warned: Police are watching you.

On the right is a tomato. It will not get you high. Independence police know this, but they still knocked on a man's door on 4/20 looking for a marijuana-growing operation and found tomato plants, KMBC Channel 9 reported. Understandably, the tomato grower isn't happy and believes that he was profiled for buying hydroponic equipment.

"What I saw today was not protection," the unnamed man told KMBC. (He didn't want his name used because he's an emergency responder and doesn't want to lose his job.)

"That was harassment, all because of where I made a purchase."

The man continued: "The last time I checked, it wasn't illegal to grow a tomato plant, but

it makes you wonder. ... I understand that a lot of people use hydroponic equipment for illegal

ways, but that's just like saying everybody who buys a gun is going to

be a criminal and murder somebody."

This was all part of a crackdown on grow operations on 4/20 in which thousands of marijuana plants were seized and several grow operations were shut down. Someone's trying to send a message.

The Missouri Highway Patrol monitors stores that sell hydroponic

equipment, and authorities use those sales to bust marijuana-grow

operations. According to KMBC, Independence police said they used

the same tactic that led them to the tomato grower to bust a marijuana-grow operation earlier Wednesday.

The Missouri Highway Patrol said 37 indoor grow operations were seized along with 1,500 marijuana plants and 20 pounds of processed marijuana as part of the 4/20 bust, which they called "Operation Constant Gardener."

It is Missouri.  Didn't the MIAC report state that people who support Ron Paul, own a Bible, have a copy of the constitution and are against abortion are Terrorists?

Or we could just get rid of "sin" taxes entirely and force the government to come up with a better way to get the money to run illegal wars.

It should be taxed in the same way that tobacco and alcohol are taxed. That's why you always see it. If I have to pay taxes on my smokes, you better have to pay taxes on your joints.

Don't expect cops to do real police work. Cops and prosecutors work for the corporate state. The big pharmaceuticals do not want MJ to be legal, as it would decimate their profits.

Why does it have to be taxed? I hate seeing that comment, which inevitably pops up on any story even remotely relating to pot in any way, shape or form.

"Is this okay with you America???"

Most Americans think it is. But most Americans are rats, so we ought not to be surprised.

Well hey, at least they bothered to knock, instead of firing a stun grenade through a window, breaking down the door, and shooting and killing a little girl who'd been set afire by the grenade. This has actually happened.

Who is the BADGELICKING BATON-SUCKING JUDGE that signed off on this warrant for the raid?

Or did the police "manufacture other evidence" to support a warrant being issued.

A person(s) and the sanctity of their home were VIOLATED simply because of the purchase of hydroponic equipment.

Is this okay with you America???

legalize MJ. Tax it like tobacco is taxed. Stop flushing our tax dollars down the toilet
enforcing laws that will NEVER and will NEVER be effective.

They might be able to reduce heroin traffic by staking out stores that sell spoons. Assuming that anyone who buys hydroponic equipment is going to grow pot is seriously bad profiling.

FUCKING PIGS! Sit outisde every fucking CVS & Walgreens then arrest people who buy Sudafed or Effedrin so you can bust meth cookers. If you buy propane BOOM meth arrest. WTF! This is way worse case of profiling than Arizona'a illegal immigration shit. Follow people home from the liquor store and wait for them to get back in the car BOOM DUI! FUCKING PIG FUCKERS.

So cops sit and watch these shops. Get paid to sit and watch these shops, and record the legal customers' legal purchases. I really didn't approve of my tax dollars being spent like that. No, really.

This is nothing new. A guy I know got raided because he had bought hydro gear at the place in City Market (plain clothed cops sit in their parking lot). I don't think the police even check anything other than purchases because my friend's hydro set up was outside in his backyard in plain view with plants growing out of it were very obviously not ganja.
