Terry Hayes guilty of murdering Tiffani Hayes, who he was divorcing

Hayes were in the midst of a divorce when the husband shot his wife in the back of the head, killing her on August 5, 2010. A jury convicted Terry Hayes yesterday of premeditated first-degree murder as well as aggravated assault for threatening a friend of his wife's.

Tiffani Hayes' body was found outside an Olathe home in August

2010. She was 28 years old. According to the Star, prosecutors argued that Terry Hayes planned to kill Tiffani Hayes after luring her to an Olathe home by threatening to throw away her property. Terry and Tiffani Hayes argued for less than a minute before Terry retrieved a pistol from his truck, loaded a bullet in the chamber, chased Tiffani down and shot her in the back of the head. Then he fled.



Terry Hayes was arrested after a three-hour manhunt.

were married on February 28, 2009. On April 7, 2010, Terry Hayes filed

for

divorce, citing irreconcilable differences.

Hayes' sentencing is scheduled for July 12.
