Three St. Louis-area politicians recently disclosed an odd gift from lobbyists: tickets to a March WWE Raw performance at the Scottrade Center. There's nothing illegal or fishy about the gifts, but the idea of our elected officials cheering for body slams and clotheslines is pretty amusing.
According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Steve Webb
(D-Florissant) and Scott Dieckhaus (R-Washington) and
April Ford-Griffin (a St. Louis alderman) were all in attendance for matches. The night even included Snooki as a special guest!
The paper, citing spending reports, writes that Laclede Gas provided
Dieckhaus' seats, while Webb and Ford-Griffin were guests of Ameren.
The paper also notes that Webb, who was furnished with food worth $150 for
his guests, is on the House Utilities Committee, which approves or
rejects bills regulating utilities such as Ameren.
A couple of other notable ticket gifts: Webb got $400 in Janet Jackson tickets, Sen. Robin Wright-Jones (D-St. Louis) received $300 in Disney On Ice tickets (also from Ameren), and Rep. Churie Spreng (D-Florissant) was handed $200 in Blues tickets.
In case you weren't ... uh ... lucky enough to see the Snooki wrestling show on a
lobbyist's dime, here's a video:
