ESPN wrote this little story the other day about Florida Marlins left fielder Logan Morrison, a Kansas City native and one-time star at Maple Woods Community College. The 23-year-old has become quite the Twitter celebrity, and the piece says it's beginning to make his bosses a little nervous.
Morrison has more than 32,000 followers and tends to let his mouth run 140 characters at a time, which, the World Wide Leader reports, makes team president David Samson uncomfortable. "It's very scary to me. I've told Logan, 'People are waiting for you to
make a mistake. They're going to bait you on Twitter to say something
inappropriate that you can never take back,'" he said.
It's easy to understand his boss's concern when Morrison tweets things like, "In honor of Memorial Day, I will
be going "Commando" for the rest of the day! Come on out to Bank One for
tonight's action!"
Samson
boils down the high wire that Twitter is to Morrison, and really all
tweeters: "It takes an entire career to build a reputatio, and one
tweet to lose it. As long as he understands that, it's fine."
True that.
Let's read through some of the best of LoMo's tweets. Anybody want to start a pool as to when he'll have his Rashard Mendenhall moment?
