Strange fact of the day: Michele Bachmann is KCTV5 meteorologist Gary Amble's sister

You cannot pick your family members. Who knew that batshit conservative congresswoman and Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann was the sister of KCTV5 meteorologist Gary Amble? I didn't until reading Star reporter Dave Helling's story about Bachmann and Amble's blood ties.

"She's incredibly honest, she's incredibly smart ... personally I think she would (make a good president)," Amble told Helling.

That. Is. A. Frightening. Statement.

This won't endear me to Amble, but I stand by the batshit comment. If you need reference, here are 10 of the craziest Bachmann quotes (and that list is a year old, so there are definitely more). Here's one for reference:

"Normalization [of gayness]

through desensitization. Very effective way to do this with a bunch of

second-graders is take a picture of 'The Lion King' for instance, and a teacher might

say, 'Do you know that the music for this movie was written by a gay

man?' The message is: 'I'm better at what I do because I'm gay.'"

I love my sister, but if she said shit like that, I wouldn't vote for her. I'd campaign against her (sorry, Mom).

Liberals find Bachman and other (gasp) - "CHRISTIANS", scary? Why? Because they believe in God? And many of these same people gleefully voted for the current president - a man who's never run a business and even with scant political experience. But he gave great speeches and told us that "we are the one's we've been waiting for."
Messianic sounding remarks aren't scary but references to God are. Welcome to 'Wonderland'!

It is striking that the tea party born agains are so unChristlike. They are intolerant of just about everybody who doesn't share their whack-job view of the universe. I guess they don't really think, "What would Jesus Do?" I don't think He'd let the poor fend for themselves which is what these folks want to do. I guess they don't think the meek should inherit the earth. I should think that they'd want to help the rich folks get to heaven, don't you? Have they forgotten this one from the Bible: "'ll say it again--it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God!"
Good reason to tax the folks who can afford it to help the poor. That's what Jesus would do. Talk about hypocrisy.

No kidding.  Michelle Bachman is truly one of the scariest politicians to come along.  Every time she opens her mouth something ridiculous and extremest comes out.  I've liked  Gary Amble...but sister or not, if he thinks that nutcase would make a good President he's as scary as she is.

I think that mispronouncing Corps is a little more forgivable than this babbling idiot sending them to kill and die for the voices in his head.

One time ??  Really?  Let's ask anyone in the Corp....as in the Marine Corps if he has only misspoke one time.  Proof he only can make a statement by reading it off a teleprompt and then someone needs to make sure it is phonetically correct.  And he should know the name of the groups who work for him (military)

Actually, even though I could never vote for her, I do think she is basically a good person; and she seems to be very popular with Tea Partiers.

... and by 'decency' I mean homophobia, racism and a disregard for any non-millionaire constituent.

And here's an alternate ending: ... and by 'decency' I mean anybody but a black man.

I will be private about being gay when you are private about being straight..stop attempting to convert everyone to heterosexuality...

Well the gay propaganda message is that being gay is better. I'm not sure why gay people can't just be gay privately.

Denier is a pejorative used typically by liberals. The actual science on man caused global warming is not settled.

Michele Bachmann will make an excellent President when she's elected.  It will be very refreshing to have decency in the White House again.

Quick punctuation lesson:  quote marks go around actual quotations.

"There are some structural issues with our economy where a lot of businesses have learned to become much more efficient with a lot fewer workers. You see it when you go to a bank and you use an ATM, you don't go to a bank teller, or you go to the airport and you're using a kiosk instead of checking in at the gate. All these things have created changes in the economy, and what we have to do ... is identifying where the jobs for the future are going to be."

Better check your quote source my man ......nothing Bachman has said matches the stupidity of the Obama's comment yesterday......."ATMs are taking away jobs"...Bachman at least has some semblance of understanding of how capitalism works and how jobs are created.

How scandalously incompetent do Democrats and Republicans have to be, and for how long, before the voters decide to end their 150-year stranglehold on power? Everyone agrees that the system is broken, but the electorate still looks for answers in the people who broke it in the first place.      http://bit.ly/j91zRN

I'd be interested to know Amble's position on climate change, seeing as he's a meteorologist.  His sister's views are stunningly ignorant.

(I know Mike Thompson is a denier, so being a meteorologist doesn't preclude Amble from being one as well.)

I find it interesting that the most God-hard conservative Republican pundits are the most anti-gay.  Would Jesus use the Bible as a tool of oppression like they do?
