It was only a matter of time until Sen. Claire McCaskill, the Senate's star tweeter, opined about the Anthony Weiner dick-pic scandal. So what does she think of the shamed and now former representative who defiled her favorite social-media tool? Not much.
The Hill reports that she told OzarksFirst.com that Weiner is a "twit," and she added that he "clearly has issues." Gotta love that honesty. And, of course, she came to the defense of Twitter. "When used appropriately, the site is a great way for lawmakers to connect with their constituents," she said.
McCaskill even made a second stop on her Twitter defense media junket,
telling St. Louis TV station KMOX that she enjoys shooting her mouth off
online without her staff stifling her. "It's great not to be edited by
anyone, for it not to go through some review process," she said.
And McCaskill has at least one defender on Capitol Hill. Rep. Barney
Frank (D-NY) told newspapers, "Is it wrong if Claire McCaskill
tweets what she had for lunch? No." Yeah, keep the tweets coming,
Clairebear!
