Pro basketball player Michael Beasley made a lot of bad decisions on June 26. The former Kansas State Wildcat and current member of the Minnesota Timberwolves was clocked driving 84 mph in a 65 mph zone on Interstate 394 in Minnetonka around 3 a.m. Uh, oh. Nothing good happens after 2:58 a.m., especially when an officer smells a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car.
The officer searched Beasley's car and found a plastic baggie with 16.2 grams of marijuana hidden under the front passenger seat. Beasley told the cop that the pot wasn't his. He claimed it belonged to a friend whom he'd just dropped off.
The Associated Press reported that the possession charge is a petty misdemeanor and carries a $128 fine.
The (possibly) good news for Beasley: Since the NBA lockout is underway, the NBA's anti-drug agreement isn't in effect. If it were, Beas would be staring down a five-game suspension (if he were to be found guilty). But now it's unclear what would happen.
The bad news for Beasley: He's still a fuck up. In Miami, where he started his pro basketball career (the Heat gave away the No. 2 pick in the 2008 draft), he twice violated the league's drug policy and did a stint in a Houston treatment facility.
And this won't come as a shock to Timberwolves president David Kahn. In a radio interview last year, Kahn said Beasley was "a very young and immature kid who smoked too much marijuana."

The only thing Michael did wrong is got caught. He's still young and naive, he needs to get some advice from some veterans on how not to get caught.
And by "jeopardize", I'm talking more about suspensions and lesser contract offers in the future than the physical effects of smoking...though having a stoner's motivation level doesn't help.
I don't think people have an issue with weed. It's the fact that he continues to piss on his opportunity by doing the one thing that would really jeopardize his winning genetic lottery ticket. Right or wrong, people resent those who waste set-yourself-up-for-life-type talents.
I'll be happy to brief you on Craig Brackins' run with the Philadelphia 76ers. Or I can tell you all about what Will Blalock is doing with Australian club Townsville Crocodiles, whose logo incorporates the golden arches (I really wish I were making this up). Or Jackson Vroman in China. Or Marcus Fizer, who was last seen in Puerto Rico.
But someone did run over a girl on a bike at a drive-thru. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...
My friends tell me they always drive too SLOW when smoking pot.
This should be a testament to the young men who have a talent and chose to exploit it to early. I knew when Beasley left Kansas State after his first year that he was in for a rough time. Giving to much fame and money to someone so young is dangerous. I hope he gets his stuff strait.
I can't wait to see some stories on how some former Cyclones are doing in professional basketball leagues. Oh wait...
So he smoked some weed... so what? Nobody ever shot up a school full of kids high on pot. The only thing stoners kill may be a bag of chips! It's an HERB NOT a drug! Idiots!
If the worst thing Beasley does is smoke weed, then he's a pretty decent human being. But since people around here think Reefer Madness is a realistic depiction of stoners......
