For the last two months, Waldo has been reliving some of the old familiar tension that was in the air when the "Waldo rapist" was breaking into women's homes. Two sexual assaults along the Trolley Trail were reportedly tied to the same man. Today, Jackson County prosecutors announced multiple felony counts against the person they think is responsible.

James Kemp, 23, of KC, is facing eight felony counts in connection with attacks on the trail, including forcible sodomy, kidnapping, first degree robbery, and four counts of armed criminal action.

Kemp allegedly bound his victims with duct tape and threatened them with a knife. The charges stem from two attacks, one on June 16 at 5:15 a.m. on the trail, and the second on July 17 before 6 a.m. at a car wash near the trail at the corner of 80th Street and Wornall.

Prosecutors are asking that Kemp be held on a $250,000 cash bond.

Alot of you have him convicted guilty before even hearing all the facts. Facts: He was held for 18 hours of questioning without a lawyer present. After the filed charges against him they were asking a few other people for DNA. The police have forced confessions from people before by holding them for hours upon hours on end slamming them with questions to convince the person they are guilty and confess to the crime. Plus not to mention the fact the "police sketch" does not look anything like him. Learn all your facts before you convict.

One of my family members was one of his victims. Every one of you whom do not know all the truthful details should really find something else to do with your lives. I pray that you never have to feel the pain and fear that something like this causes.

Stand by your rapist brother all you like. Maybe you do not understand the DNA concept. You didn't finish school, did you?

Well, if there is " a whole lot more" then enlighten us, and tell us why your creep brother is so innocent. Convince us, and I will be down at the courthouse on Monday with you to help free him.

Of course you want to think that he is not guilty. You are a reasonable person, and no one wants to believe that people can be so rotten. However, there is DNA, and he confessed. Personally, I think that he should just be release to the residents of the Waldo area, and we can take care of him.

You are a mouth-breathing idiot. Please put a bag over your head, tie it tightly, and breathe deeply.

He don't look like the police sketch? Bad grammar aside, they have his DNA, you inbreeder. Hopefully you will not be there for his day in court, because I think that your ignorance is of no help to his case. Meanwhile, enjoy jail Mr. Kemp, because you are not leaving.

When the prosecutors office files charges, they open a file on the case at the courthouse. Hence, court records before someone physically appears in court.
That said, charges alone do not in any way prove someone is guilty.

I hope for his wifes sake he is not guilty.  I do not think the TV stations should have show her interview.  Showing her on TV while getting such terrible news.  Not right to do that.  Again I hope for his wifes sake he is not guilty .

IF???    he did it then I am glad he is off the street.

I don't doubt it for a minute....the media rarely tells the whole story, but he
will get his day in court, and if he isn't guilty then hopefully it will go no
further, if he is guilty, he should be locked up.

There is also the news that they have DNA and fingerprint evidence.  Not that
I've convicted him, but there is a difference between standing by your family
and denial.  If he is indeed guilty there is no reason you shouldn't still stand
by him.

The KC Star is reporting that court records indicate he confessed.  If that is inaccurate, then you should go after the Star.

Glad that he was caught relatively quickly.

Oh, and the attacks were a month (June 16 and July 17) a part, not a day as the article states.
