Emanuel Cleaver does not like the debt ceiling deal, calls it 'a sugarcoated Satan sandwich'

Missouri Congressman Emanuel Cleaver is not a fan of the debt-ceiling deal. Not at all, as you can see in the above tweet. Can anyone tell me what a "a sugarcoated Satan sandwich" is?

Cleaver has spent the last three hours on Twitter railing against the deal. After the jump, read the rest of his tweets, including his arguing that the deal doesn't do anything for Democrats and doesn't help the poor, the elderly or the vulnerable.

Many of the rich in fact pay NO taxes, but they pollute, weaken environmental laws, utilize public services, and benefit from our crumbling infrastructure. Taxes are hurting the working poor way more than the rich. All I ask is that the people that make the money repair what they break. Your analogy sucks, btw.

why didn't obama and the dems deal with this issue when they controlled the house, the senate and the white house?  Because they were too busy destroying jobs, giving money to bankrupt banks and auto companies and forcing O-Blam-ya Care on the country.  They were so drunk with power and full of themselves they let the economy flounder while flying around the world on the American Taxpayers dime. Additionally, they wanted to blame any debt ceiling decisions on Republicans.....but guess what it backfired. Now they start with their typical tired socialist mantra "shared sacrifice".

the dems don't get it, but what's new.  for those of you who think raising taxes is the answer to overspending, use your own personal life experience as a barometer.  If you buy more house than you can afford, run up credit card debt to buy things that aren't necessities can you go to your boss and demand a raise because you've overextended yourself?  I didn't think so, but that's the Dems solution.  Let's raise taxes (demand a raise) because we can't manage our budget!

It is a terrible deal. The President should veto the bill and use the 14th Ammendment. revise the tax code, and Tax the "free loading" rich, who are buying our government

"Spending cuts but no revenue increases?"  It's not like we're $15 Trillion in debt or anything Emanuel.  After Japan cuts it's business tax 15% as they apparently are going to do, the U.S. will have the highest corporate taxation anywhere.  I can't imagine why we lose jobs overseas...

This really was a terrible deal that shows how ineffectual the democrats are.  I feel proud that my congressman is not sugar coating this bill as if it were some good compromise.  This is a one sided win.  I am not a reglious person in the least but I do agree this measure can't be reconciled with any of the worlds major relgions.
