  • Amber Cannon was found dead in a motel room last week.

Justin Cannon told detectives that he killed Michael Griggs, whom he accused of sleeping with his wife while he was serving in the U.S. Army. The story gets more disturbing for a variety of reasons.

Cannon's wife was 16-year-old Amber Cannon. She was found dead in a Grandview motel room on July 27. Amber Cannon's family told Fox 4 that they suspected her death was drug-related, but her official cause of death has not been released.

The Star reported that Amber Cannon would have been a junior at Belton High School this fall.

Justin Cannon was reportedly stationed in Georgia and had returned to the Kansas City area for Cannon's funeral. On Saturday, he ended up at Truman Lake where he allegedly confronted the 24-year-old Griggs.

Justin Cannon reportedly told detectives that he sneaked up on Griggs on Sunday morning and threw a rock that hit Griggs in the back of the head. Cannon told authorities that he dumped Griggs' body in the lake to hide it. An hour later, he reportedly told fellow campers that Griggs was missing.

Prosecutors in St. Clair County have charged 21-year-old Justin Cannon with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in Griggs' death.

So if the reports are right, we've got two guys in their early 20s fighting over a 16-year-old girl (yes, 16). One is somehow married to her, even though she hasn't reached her junior year of high school. The other was allegedly sleeping with her while her husband was serving in the military. Just so creepy.
