At the time the photo was taken, the woman worked at Verlin's, a St. Louis bar and grill where the bartenders serve drinks in their underwear. Kinder's spokesman issued a non-denial denial when The Riverfront Times asked about the photo.
Politico writer David Catanese picked up on the story about Kinder's apparent comfort in an establishment where "every night's a pantsless party." In June, Catanese wrote a piece in Politico about the lack of respect that Kinder, the most likely Republican to challenge Gov. Jay Nixon in 2012, commands within his own party. Catanese talked to Republicans who shook their heads at Kinder's resemblance to the idiot nephews in their lives. In recent months, Kinder left his keys in a truck that was stolen and retweeted a message referring to tramp stamps. A newspaper story prompted him to reimburse the state for questionable hotel stays.
