Who knew the Missouri Department of Agriculture was all into art? The agency announced Wednesday that a Ray County woman has won its second annual Focus on Missouri Agriculture photo contest. Colene McWilliams took the shot above, titled "Getting the Job Done."

Maybe the honeyed image is just a celebration of our tireless Great Plains work ethic. Or maybe its POV — hey, driver, why don't you get out and help? — comments on the wealthy, idle observers of actual breadbasket labor. Either way, McWilliams takes home a basket of Missouri products donated by AgriMissouri. (Sorry, no cash or health care.) Woot.

More photos and contest information on the state's ag department website, where you can lose yourself in scenes that make Missouri's rural essence feel homey and proud rather than impoverished and ignorant.
