Did you know that Columbia's marijuana laws are among the most lax in Missouri? It's true. Columbia's city code doesn't allow police to take in someone caught with a small amount of reefer; they only issue citations. And the maximum fine is $250.

So no mug shot for Gov. Jay Nixon's youngest son, Will Nixon. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that Will Nixon, 21, was cited early Saturday morning after police were called to a loud party a few block from the University of Missouri campus.

The Post-Dispatch reported that officers "smelled a strong odor of marijuana" in the hallway of the complex. Officers then spotted a pipe loaded with marijuana sitting on a coffee table of an apartment. Nixon allegedly tried to "get rid" of it by throwing it on the ground.

The governor doesn't sound too bummed out. His office released a statement calling the incident "a private matter that will be handled through the municipal process."

"My son is a fine young man, and we will be working through this issue as a family," the governor added.

It could always be worse. Just ask Mayor Sly James.

Marijuana laws are ridiculous.

What would our forefathers think of a nation that jailed its citizens for planting a seed, nurturing it, then consuming what grows?

Two past presidents, as well as the current one have smoked it.

Face it folks, from here on out, our presidents on down the line are of the generation that HAS smoked a hooter a time or two.
