Victor Ortiz had a Jayhawk logo on his trunks when he got knocked out by Floyd Mayweather Jr. (video)

Garden City, Kansas, native Victor Ortiz wore a Kansas Jayhawk logo on his trunks during Saturday night's fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. The Rock Chalk spirit didn't help him as Mayweather knocked out Ortiz, albeit in controversial fashion. Watch for yourself in the YouTube video above (via NESW Sports).

UPDATE: HBO had the video pulled. You can see clips at Deadspin.

The video shows Ortiz throwing a flurry of punches and then headbutting Mayweather. The ref separates the fighters. Ortiz apologizes, kisses Mayweahter on the cheek, and the ref brings them to the center of the ring to touch gloves. They appear to embrace for a second, and then Mayweather starts swinging at Ortiz, whose arms are by his sides. Mayweather pops Ortiz a couple of times, and it's over.

Was it a cheap shot by Mayweather? Or was Ortiz at fault for not keeping up his guard? If I were Ortiz, I wouldn't have left my guard down. I guarantee Manny Pacquiao won't be punked out like that.

Number one rule in fighting, never let your guard down.

Ortiz was heard after the fight saying "When does basketball season start?"

Interestingly enough, it was only the second worst ass kicking the Jayhawk's received Saturday.
