NFL using Jamaal Charles' injury to entice fantasy players

Cheer up, Chiefs fans. Your season tickets are worth pennies on the dollar because of the team's horrific start. But now you can draft Cam Newton in a fantasy league!

NFL.com is touting its fantasy service with an image of Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles looking despondent after he tore up his left knee during the 48-3 flop in Detroit on Sunday. "Injury ruined your fantasy season?" the text in the ad reads. "Start again on NFL.com. It's not too late."

That's pretty cold. Let's hope NFL.com doesn't get any ideas about branching into condolence cards: "Mom died? For the fantasy player, fewer family gatherings means more time for waiver-wire pickups. Grieve and win at NFL.com!"

Insult-to-injury department: The guy in our fantasy league who drafted Charles released him this week and added in his place Ryan Fitzpatrick, the Bills quarterback who threw four touchdown passes against the Chiefs in Week One.
