  • Timothy McClendon (pictured) allegedly shot Jose Jenkins about 22 times in the head, neck and torso.
Video cameras captured the shootout at the 42nd and Prospect car wash that ended in the killing of Jose Jenkins.

Jenkins, 37, became Kansas City's 84th homicide victim Sunday night. Authorities believe they've found his killer: Jackson County prosecutors charged 34-year-old Timothy McClendon with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in Jenkins' death.

According to court records, the video shows Jenkins initiating the shootout, firing shots at McClendon, who took off running and returned fire and hit Jenkins.

But the gun battle didn't end there. A wounded Jenkins couldn't get to his feet. McClendon allegedly walked to his tan Subaru, reloaded his gun and fired multiple shots at Jenkins. McClendon is then accused of getting in his vehicle, driving up to Jenkins' body and firing more shots.

And it wasn't over yet. McClendon then allegedly backs up the car and fires even more shots before finally driving off.

Jenkins' autopsy revealed that he was shot about 22 times in the back of his head, neck and torso.

McClendon was taken to Research Medical Center to treat his own wounds suffered in the shootout. Court records say McClendon didn't know who was shooting at him, but he admitted returning fire.

Prosecutors are seeking a $500,000 cash bond for McClendon.

Both of these people were/are cockroaches. We need an exterminator with teeth. And, BTW, you people who write in to defend this slimeball would seem a lot more authentic if you could spell and speak. Too bad you dropped out of school, cause it just wasn't cool enough to get an education. That must be someone else's fault, right?

It's no longer self defense when you continuously shoot someone that is clearly wounded and down. That's when you call the police and let them handle the situation. This is another black on black murder/senseless crime. Over what? Nobody wins in a situation like this. Families mourn a loss either being buried or going to jail.

What else is he supposed to do, stand there and not shoot back? I would be a little angry too. Cops do it all the time and get away with it, so why is this different? Cops have shot up bodies with more bullets only to find a toy gun yet Jackson County...oh nevermind. Yeah I get the excessive retaliation but cmon.

This is clearly a sign of self defense. Although it may have been overkill he was shot at first
