Jenkins, 37, became Kansas City's 84th homicide victim Sunday night. Authorities believe they've found his killer: Jackson County prosecutors charged 34-year-old Timothy McClendon with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in Jenkins' death.
According to court records, the video shows Jenkins initiating the shootout, firing shots at McClendon, who took off running and returned fire and hit Jenkins.
But the gun battle didn't end there. A wounded Jenkins couldn't get to his feet. McClendon allegedly walked to his tan Subaru, reloaded his gun and fired multiple shots at Jenkins. McClendon is then accused of getting in his vehicle, driving up to Jenkins' body and firing more shots.
And it wasn't over yet. McClendon then allegedly backs up the car and fires even more shots before finally driving off.
Jenkins' autopsy revealed that he was shot about 22 times in the back of his head, neck and torso.
McClendon was taken to Research Medical Center to treat his own wounds suffered in the shootout. Court records say McClendon didn't know who was shooting at him, but he admitted returning fire.
Prosecutors are seeking a $500,000 cash bond for McClendon.
