Cole's aspirations of political office didn't die there. In fact, Fox 4 reports that Dieckmann has appointed Cole to a vacant seat on the board of aldermen. The seat had apparently been open for a while, and Cole expressed interest in filling it.
The town is facing criticism over the appointment of Cole, 60, who was convicted of first-degree child molestation of an 11-year-old girl in 2004.
"It doesn't bother me anymore," Cole told the TV station. "To me, they're not stupid people. They're just unaware."
