"It is recognized by the Board that each member is directed by institutional policy relative to pursuing its grant of rights and that process will commence expeditiously at the institutional level," the conference said in a press release.
But will it be too late to keep Missouri in the conference?
We're all waiting to see what comes out of Tuesday's Missouri curators meeting. Missouri Chancellor Brady Deaton was asked about Mizzou's stance on conference realignment, and he offered no answers to Campus Corner.
“I can’t speak to that at all,” Deaton replied.
Wait. That's not all. The Big 12 is also talking expansion.
"The Board is encouraged by the number of institutions indicating interest in the Big 12, which reflects positively on the standing of the Conference within intercollegiate athletics," the conference said in a statement. "The Board also looks forward to considering the recommendation of the expansion committee regarding future membership options."
Hopefully this week, we'll find out whether Missouri needs to be replaced.
