Warrior Dash is coming back to KC.

Despite two men dying after competing in last year's Warrior Dash, the "extreme run from hell" is returning to Kansas City, well, Platte City, next year.

The Examiner reported that Warrior Dash announced the return date — May 5, 2012 — to those subscribed to the competition's e-mail list. Scheduling the event for spring as opposed to the middle of the summer is smart given this year's extreme heat.

The 2012 Warrior Dash is scheduled for Platte Ridge Park in Platte City. You can run it for $50 if you sign up by October 25. The deadline to sign up is April 23, 2012. Here's a peek at the course.

Earlier this year, Jeff Flink and Jeremiah Morris died after competing in the extreme obstacle course.

Flink died about two weeks after collapsing with a 108-degree temperature during the two-day event held at Tiffany Springs Park. Fink's lungs reportedly "gave in" while doctors tried to treat an infection.

Morris, 28, died after collapsing during the event. He apparently suffered heat stroke. Morris' friends blamed the event's organizers for not supplying enough water or cooling stations.
