After forcing an ownership change last year, City of Kansas City, Missouri, liquor inspectors have been trying to shut down the nightclub at 220 Admiral Boulevard. In March, after a drive-by shooting that city officials said originated from a dispute at the club, the city's Regulated Industries Division notified the owners, Eric and Natasha Union, that Xpressions had flunked its probationary period. The Unions bought the business last December from Del Hedgepath, who operated clubs in the space that were notorious for shootings, fights and other mayhem that frequently spilled into the streets.
In August, the city's Liquor Control Board of Review upheld the decision to yank the club's license. The Unions went to court in the hopes of overturning the revocation. Jackson County Judge Brent Powell issued a stay, which allowed the club to remain open as he weighed the evidence.
Last week, Powell lifted the stay, meaning that the revocation is in effect. The club has until October 24 to sell the last of its booze. "As of this moment, unless we hear something different from the court, they'll be closed," Gary Majors, the manager of the Regulated Industries Division, says.
But maybe not for good. The Unions' appeal of the liquor board's decision remains before Powell. A hearing is scheduled for November 14.

Direct from the Xpression KC profile (open) wall on FB: "Once Upon A Saturday It Was 17 And Up...Yea That's Right I Said It Age 17 And Up At Club Xpressions Tonight And Tonight Only....$10 @ The Door....Doors Open From 9pm to3am....So Come Out And Xpress Yourself Why U have a chance" This is recent people. They have been doing all ages, 17+ ...etc. Basically if you have money they will get you drunk and probably their babies too. It's sick. The city needs to kick the Unions out and take the building away from Del as well because we ALL know he still has his hand in this. It's gross and blight on the downtown area. The building could, actually, be a decent property due to what it once was historically.
It takes way to long to close a club in Kansas City. There should be a three strikes rule. And let's face the facts. Every hip hop club in this town is rife with bullshit violence and hated by their neighbors. This isn't racism, it is about violence. They should be closed a lot faster than they are. Black Kansas City has a runaway problem with violence and all of its institutions will suffer until it gets it under control.
When NV was a techno club it did not have these issues. Is it just a coincidence that after the club turned hip hop/rap that it started to have shootings and big brawls?
WoW! I must say, I have to give major props to the Unions. They are a regular hard working class family that has been trying everything in their power to provide Rap lovers a safe, hospitable and beautiful nightclub environment. While P&L, Plaza and Westport getting free outside professional KCPD security, the Unions get criticized for hiring and firing many different armed security companies can't handle the few unwelcome bad apples that want to hang out front of there business. From implementing dress codes to paying thousands to support about 40 staff members families, the club still produces more tax dollars for KC then 90% of white patronized clubs. Where is their free KCPD help without complaints??? And the stupid neighbors that are complaining now weren't complaining when they signed the partition for the club to first opened as a gay club (NV.) If you are a new neighbor, you knew to expect noise when your a*# moved there. To me, it seems like it's something way beyond noise and a shooting that happened far from the club. They're not protesting for P&L to get shut down after there shooting and stabbingSSSS.
PEACE
All I have to say is the truth...you white men are just mad because you used to buy that black pussy by the thousands! A white womans pussy has always been free because its worthless like that plain flavor less rice you get free at the chinese restaurant. If you ive near xprsns you are trash anyway. whites buy more hip hop than blacks do and a white guy is representing that club in court and a white guy manages that spot so unless you live on ward pkwy or leawood STFU..you are a loser! Guess what? You can't do a damn thing!
What a shame. Where are all of the thugs going to cause trouble at now?
Wow this might be for real! I live near the club and was actually able to get a great night sleep on a Thursday night. No waking up in the middle of the night to the sounds of people yelling, bottles breaking, and heavy bass until 3am
I talked to liquor control today. If anyone sees Xpressions open this weekend call 911 or liquor control immediately.
To pkay: The problem here is the contradiction in terms of your use of the Xpression "civilized humans"; It's a club that plays gangsta rap and hip-hop, and since most white people in this city like country or rock, and most hispanics here like mariachi, the answer must be the hip-hoppin' homeboys, their "ho's", and the filthy white trash that run with them from Chouteau Court, Wayne Miner, Guinotte Manor, and the other black neighborhoods around here. I used to live in that area, and it has always been like that, because that's what happens when stupid, horny black men get together at the first whiff of sleazy pussy. I'm sure you'll call me a racist, but they just won't ever change.....so why expect more????
Finally! This has been a long time coming. Just too bad it took THIS long to close. Kansas City, just do all of us a favor and make the appeal short and sweet so you don't give the owners another chance to open this social drain
Too bad that place has always been a site of trouble from people who don't know how to act around civilized humans. Where do they come from??
This weekend should be a doozy then.
You think the police are already making schedule adjustments for extra patrols in the vicinity of 220 Admiral Blvd?
