  • KCMO's homicide total is now at 88 for 2011.
Chester Kelley was found shot to death Saturday in the stairway of an apartment building at 76th and Monroe.

Officers were called to a shooting around 12:58 a.m. Kelley, 34, was pronounced dead at the scene. He is the 88th homicide in Kansas City, Missouri, this year. For 2011, the KCPD has solved 49 of this year's homicides (detectives have also cleared 17 homicides from previous years).

Kelley's killing wasn't the only homicide last weekend. Kansas City, Kansas, police believe foul play was involved in the death of a man found around noon Saturday in the 3000 block of North 17th Street.

The victim's name hasn't been released, but he is described as a black male in his 20s. UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Roy Morgan II. His 28th birthday would have been on October 29.

KCK authorities say his cause of death is unknown, but they suspect foul play.
