Kansas City Royals deny naming-rights rumors

The K is still the K.

There were rumors this morning that the Kansas City Royals would announce a naming rights sponsorship for Kauffman Stadium. Guess that's not the case. From the Royals:

"Amid a variety of reports that the Royals were nearing an announcement today, we felt it necessary to address the situation. Since the renovations were completed prior to the 2009 season, our organization has been open to listening to proposals with regards to a naming rights partner, but at this time no agreement has come to fruition. With that said, there is nothing else to comment on regarding naming rights."

So the K is still the K, for now.

I like "The K" and "Arrow Head".
In other words, "It ain't broke, don't fix it."

I already feel violated by all the ads plastered all over the K. What difference would one more make?

I understand the holdup is the Royals balked at paying out over $500k per year just for a cool name.
