Darrington, 22, entered an Alford plea — a guilty plea in which the defendant doesn't admit committing the crime but acknowledges that there is enough evidence to convict him at trial — in the homicides of Kevin Sherrills and Andre Taylor.
Darrington was sentenced to 25 years in prison. He is already serving a 35-year sentence for a pair of carjackings that were prosecuted in federal court and another carjacking prosecuted in Wyandotte County.
In March 2007, Sherrills was killed near 74th Street and Harrison. Taylor was killed near 86th Street and Drury Avenue in June 2007; he was the victim of mistaken identity in a gang shooting.
Darrington also pleaded guilty Wednesday to 10 other felonies, including first-degree robbery, assault of a law-enforcement officer and armed criminal action. He'll be sentenced on those charges December 16.
In March 2007, Darrington and two other men allegedly busted into a home claiming to be Kansas City police. They held a woman and her two daughters at gunpoint while ransacking their home looking for drugs and money. The men ended up stealing the woman's Cadillac, jewelry, money, TV and DVD player. The car was later found burned after being used in the killing of Sherrills. Darrington's DNA was found in cigarette butts in the car's ashtray.
In June 2007, Darrington shot a police officer in the leg near a QuikTrip on U.S. Highway 40. Darrington admitted shooting the cop after a carjacking in KCK.

Crime is rampant - period. There was the former (White) pastor who killed the husband of his lover. Another man (White) murdered his beautician wife and several of her coworkers over a custody dispute. We can continue to make this a "race" issue; but it is far from it. This is a human issue - period.
Alex are you disputing that blacks commit a disproportionate amount of violent crime?
way to go jennyf@gmail.com - way to put yourself out there as an openly public racist!
