The 100th homicide came Saturday night. Officers found two shooting victims inside a vehicle at 53rd and Prospect around 10:15 p.m. One was declared dead at the scene. The other was taken to a hospital in serious condition. UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 17-year-old Rickey King. Police say the homicide actually occurred in a park at 53rd and Brooklyn. A Facebook memorial site has been set up in King's memory.
Witnesses told police that a tan-colored passenger vehicle was seen fleeing the scene.
The other homicide of the weekend came Friday night at 75th and Troost. Terrance Jackson, 43, was found shot to death behind a business in the area. Police are still looking for Jackson's killer.

Yes, more checkpoints! I like it when I get off work at midnight, and I am stopped for being on the road. It really sucks when I get home quickly am not hassled because of the hour. I love this city.
If heavier patrolling of problem areas increases the number of arrests pertaining to homicides, then I'd say its starting to work.
