Leach's name had been dropped for the vacant Kansas Jayhawks job, which opened up after the firing of Turner Gill. Leach is getting a five-year deal, so cross his name off the list of KU candidates.
The Star reported that KU Athletic Director Sheahon Zenger is hitting the road to conduct the coaching search, and he says he has between six and 10 candidates.
Names out there include Southern Mississippi coach Larry Fedora, Florida State defensive coordinator Mark Stoops and Louisiana Tech coach Sonny Dykes. Other names possibly on KU's wish list include former South Florida coach Jim Leavitt and Houston coach Kevin Sumlin.

I think Leach would have had a hard time coming back to the Big 12 given he was dumped by TT and is currently suing them. Also, the uncertainty of the Big 12 future had to play a factor.
Also, it would be tough for KU to hire a guy who got dismissed for basically the same thing Perkins threw Mangino under the bus for. I don't think the Chancellor would be too happy signing off on this deal.
The mess Lew Perkins created has complicate this hire.
ku is garbage. the fact that they thought they even had a shot at Leach was hilarious. When Washington State is a better option than Lawredump you know you should just quit.
ku should probably drop their football program to mid major status. That's the only coaches they have a shot at. Also it would help their basketball team as they routinely lose to mid majors in march.
