Todd Haley fired by Kansas City Chiefs

The local football team is in the market for a new coach.

Todd Haley is out.
  • Todd Haley is out.
The Chiefs have thrown the bum look-alike out. The team announced this morning that it fired head coach Todd Haley in the middle of his third season coaching the team. "This was a difficult decision but one that we feel is best for the future of the Chiefs. Although there have been bright spots at different points this season, we have not made meaningful progress and we felt that it was necessary to make a change. We appreciate Todd’s contributions during his time with the club, and we wish him well in the future," team chairman and CEO Clark Hunt said in a statement on the team's website.

The team went 19-27 under Haley, who picked up an unsportsmanlike-conduct penalty during Sunday's ugly 37-10 loss to the New York Jets. "Todd helped this team in many valuable ways over the past three seasons, and I am thankful for his contributions. Unfortunately, we have not been able to establish the kind of consistency we need to continue to build a strong foundation for the future and we believe a change is important at this time," Chiefs General Manager Scott Pioli said in the statement.

The team will hold a press conference later today.

I would not wanted to be a player coached by Todd Haley; he seemed to have the personality of a snail. He seemed to always have a scowl on his face like he hated the world. I'm glad he is gone.

all in all, I think Haley did a pretty good job with what he had around him. He inherited a crappy team left by a crappy coach and gm. He made it to the playoffs and won his division in his second year. Albeit, they weren't very good and basically backed into winning the Division by playing a WEAK schedule. He has no depth, and 5 key starters lost this year....no one expecting them to finish above .500 with all starters so what's the reason for his firing? He and Pioli weren't getting along. He was probably getting chewed out for losing and said "well do your job and find me some players, because you can't have dogs doing the laundry". Pioli is enough of a snake to CYA so he sets up Haley to take the fall. Heck Haley wnated out anyway......funny how Indy lost their QB and haven't won a game all year.....no one is firing thier Head Coach.

Clake Hunt is a milqtoast......he's running the Chiefs like the Walmart Clown runs the Royals, plenty of money under the cap and doesn't care about winning, just take the check to the bank. The Chefs need to have a couple of 15K season ticket years and 8 blackouts a season so he get's the idea that the fans are sick of his limp wristed approach to running the team.

KC Chief fans seem to be a semi literate bunch. There's usually more blatant grammatical errors in the actual article instead of the comments.

Big D: Are you suggesting, then, that we need a new coach who DOES like to lose?

Scot Poli should have been fired to. He did'nt improve the team from last year, did not get any good players to back up the bench. Did not address the ofensive line with any good free agent players. Did not have a experience back up Quarter Back. Get some one that can select good telented players.

maybe should go back to the 70s were you couldnt get 20,000 fans in the seats. maybe then they would put a decent product on the field,

Whatever coach that comes in...had better have success right away. All the injured starters back...an easier schedule...good draft spot...they found out about a lot about their back ups this year...who can play in this league and can't. The job ought to attract somebody high profile, for the 2012 campaign....as usual - "wait till next year"... ( but would you really want this shell of a team to be on national TV again??? Nooooo. Let the schedule run out - on a forgettable 2011...

Remarks made about Todd, and a Bum's is as low as a person can go!Like everything today, it's about Money,Media and Ticket prices!! The Hell with a team and team work, all the Great's we've had has always wandering away.since Lenny's days! Todd just another of a few they wants to blame as an excuse.

I thought he did a good job for what he had, You can not make a great teem out of what he was given! KC has it bad wright now with a owner in baseball & football that will not spend money to make a good teem, but get millions in tax breaks from are state. We need to stop that and, stop going to the games until they are gone!!!!!!!

another fine example of how Hunt keeps a team to exploit the fan base solely to mine income, not championships
