Chiefs fans accused of ruthlessly beating Jets fan and yelling 9/11 taunts

Maybe we should forget this season ever happened.
  • Maybe we should forget this season ever happened.

Update: The Associated Press is reporting that police say this fight was not a brawl between Mohr and Chiefs fans. From the report: "State Police Sgt. Brian Polite says Lee, 35, was first charged with simple assault but charges were upgraded after 23-year-old James Mohr's condition worsened. Polite says the Queens, N.Y., resident got into a brief scuffle with some men, and the skirmish broke up on its own. Polite says Lee then 'came out of the blue and punched Mohr in the face.' Polite says the incident 'was not a Jets-Chiefs melee.' He says witnesses told troopers there was no indication they were Kansas City fans."

Original story:
Proof that the Chiefs' season cannot end soon enough has arrived: The New York Post is reporting that Kansas City fans mocked Jets fans with 9/11 taunts and kicked the crap out of NY fan James Mohr following the Jets 37-10 victory on Sunday at MetLife Stadium. Yeah, this season is not one for the ages.

According to The Post, a pack of Chiefs fans shouted "Fuck New York" and "You all deserved what happened on 9/11!" to New Yorkers. Mohr, a 23-year-old physical-education teacher decked out in Jets clothing, took umbrage to the insults in a stadium parking lot. The paper reports that up to seven fans — one was wearing a Chiefs jersey — jumped Mohr as he walked alone from one group of friends to another, and the fans began beating him. The Post reports that he "suffered a fractured jaw, cheekbone and eye socket in the beatdown, and also has bleeding on the brain," and needed hours of surgery.

But, wait! It gets worse. Mohr's sister, Anna, told The Post that there's a reason her brother might take issue with 9/11 taunts. "Our other brother is a fireman, and my father is retired FDNY, so you can understand why a 9/11 comment would especially irk him," she told the paper. Police arrested one New Jersey man, and an investigation is ongoing.

the pitch is taking a page from the Star.......they create a sensational headline that isn't supported by the article but get's people looking. typical hack behavior ....other wise known as "chicken little" journalism. I guess when you can't win on substance you try to come out with PT Barnum antics.....what a shame.....i thought the Pitch was at least a half a rung higher up on the Star.....i guess they're both fighting for the same bottom of the barrel status in KC. Maybe they can merge and Lewis Duiguid can take over the opinion page for the Pitch.....ha ha ha.....but wait that would mean all the readers of the Pitch would be racists then......oh no!

This story was so fabricated and taken out of context. The fight was probably over some girl being a whore.

If anyone remembers correctly, KC had big signs saying KC Loves Ny after 9/11, we played the Giants in Week 3 2001, because week 2 was postponed, we all are one team, no one from KC thinks 9/11 was any kind of triumphant day or deserved.

This is either a phony story or someone trying to make KC fans out to be mean-spirited or someone simply trying to make a story.

Many people have seen fights in a parking lot, it's unfortunate it wasn't stopped before the individual suffered possible life-threatening injuries, for the people that witnessed it and didn't make an effort to intervene, are just as bad as the ones throwing the punches

With that said we love NY, we hate those responsible for 9/11, we are sorry this story has come out this way and I personally feel like this city is being mis-represented and that this is a great city and great country

Amen

I knew this story was BS immediately. First, you don't get more Americuhn than Chiefs fans. I mean, I've almost seen almost-fights at CamaroHead when some guy forgot to remove his hat during the Anthem. Second, what moron would go to somebody else's "turf" and talk trash like that, when you're outnumbered 1,000 to one? Last, given the sorry state of the program for the past 10 years, who would even wear Chiefs gear in public?

I just want to apologize to ALL of the fans of the JETS for this complete lack of misrepresentation of the Kansas City Chiefs NATION. The Fans of Kansas City can not be held accountable for the actions of others. Especially when it's not a home game for us. I am sick by THIS small group of CHIEF fans whom are responsible for this terrible occurrence. Please accept my humble apology on behalf of the TRUE fans of Lamar Hunt's Kansas City Chiefs. One who understands how important the JETS are, and were to the AFL. One that understands that Broadway Joe brought the AFL it's first Championship. I am so sorry for these pack of idiots who made us all look bad. We are ALL truly sorry..

KC Chiefs and KU fans get real pissy when their teams lose, but saying "Fuck NY , and "you deserve what you got on 911" is something an out of control 11 year old would say. Makes me ashamed to live here. ITS ONLY A GAME ASSHOLES!!

Trust me, if they see you wearing anything that promotes a KC sports team in NY, they just laugh at you.

There was no evidence that this was a Chiefs-Jets feud. The following article tells the story:

And other reports are showing that there are no signs or proof that Chiefs fans were even involved: http://www.sacbee.com/2011/12/14/4122243/c…

Its unfortunate that stories like this get linked to a specific team. Guys like that are just assholes period, he could have been wearing anything and hes still a prick but because he happened to have a KC jersey it becomes a KC related story.

Big deal just because the person was a Chiefs "fan" does not mean they were a Kansas City resident. If someone shoots another person wearing an Oakland jersey does that mean the raiders condone it?
