Kansas City lawyer tries to use client's twin as body double in court

Dorothy Savorys plan was so close to working.

With just two weeks left in the year, Kansas City attorney Dorothy Savory has claimed the title for strangest courtroom stunt of the year. And to make it even more bizarre, there's a Lisa Irwin connection. This shit is straight out of Matlock.

The Star reports that Savory was in court on Wednesday defending Darrel W. White Jr. during a hearing for a robbery charge. He allegedly snatched a purse. Circuit Judge Kenneth R. Garrett III called the case and asked Savory if her client was in custody. She said White was in the courtroom, and Garrett asked "Mr. White" to come forward. But the guy sitting next to Savory in court wasn't Darrel White but his twin brother, Darion.

Meanwhile, outside the courtroom, the police officer who arrested Darrel White for stealing the purse was waiting to testify. And who did he see get off the elevator? The real Darrel White! As the officer was putting the pieces together outside the courtroom, the robbery victim was on the stand and pointed to Darion White as the man who robbed her.

Then the officer told court officials, and Savory's stunt was found out.

The Star reports that Garrett was majorly peeved. "I’m just so furious right now," he seethed at the lawyer. County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker was also enraged and said she is obligated to report Savory to the Office of Chief Disciplinary Counse for misleading the judge.

Once the tactic failed, Savory played dumb. See, she never wanted her client, Darrel, to testify. She only wanted his twin to testify. From the Star's hilarious account:

[Savory] appeared mystified that her conduct could be called into question. "My client was not planning on testifying at all," she explained Wednesday. "My client was not the one I called to come to the table. This honorable court asked for Mr. White, and that’s who’s at the table today, Mr. White." Garrett was having none of her tap dancing.

"It was presented to me, it was presented to this court and it was presented to the state that the person sitting at that table was your client," the judge said.

It got worse for Savory when her plant sold her out on the stand. Darion White told the court that he was there because Savory asked him to be there. Saboteur! Garrett decided to call a recess and said the hearing would continue on January 9.

Savory (whose Twitter feed offers traffic-ticket legal services for $150) is the attorney for Jeremy Irwin's ex-girlfriend who is the mother of Lisa Irwin's half-brother and trying to get custody of him. It might be time to consider a different lawyer.

Hey she should get the Johnny Cochran award for that one....it's given to the black attorney who does the most to keep black criminals from getting true justice. I'm sure she'll get a NAACP award from Al Sharptongue and Jesse "who's your daddy" Jackson.........if only OJ was out of prison he could still be searching for the killers of his ex wife and her friend on a golf course somewhere in America.

What it really says and amplifies is that there is no honor among lawyers, no respect for the rule of law, and no care that she is supposed to be an officer of the court. She should be disbarred.

What a dumb ass. What does using a twin prove exactly? That someone who looks the same as the perp will be identified? Doesn't that make the defendant look even more guilty? Maybe if she had used a totally different person, who looked different, then it would be something. Using someone who looks exactly alike is stupid as hell. This lady is dumb.
