Missing 19-year-old Johnson County Community College student Aisha Khan was found tonight. At least that's what the City of Overland Park's Facebook status says.

Khan vanished Friday from Overland Park, where she was studying at KU's Edwards campus. No word on what exactly happened, but OP's Facebook page says she wasn't abducted or held against her will.

lets assume that she has an emotional issue;i would say its like diabetes, cardiac issues, or any physical issue. ive done so much stupid crap in my life i dont judge anyone that hasnt hurt anyone. now, if she took a ride to detroit and killed 10 people, then i will have an issue with her.:)

I was one of the volunteers that worked through the family throughout the whole ordeal, and continue to do so. And Im sick of idiots who cant open their minds.
1. They cant force her to apologize or give her location, explain why she left or where she was hiding. She didnt commit a crime, or ever say she was abducted. You only want to know bc you youre sick, you enjoy the pain and digging into lives that arent your own.No ONE is entitled to know the details. Would you want the world to know your family business, your secrets, your fears and innermost feelings and inner conflicts? Could you handle that scrutiny and judgement. For all YOU know Aisha really was attacked, she may have been a victim of something else before she left. This is not a celebrity, Star Magazine or RadarOnline. This is a delicate human life, a life of a naive 19 yr old TEEN who has so much on her shoulders and most definitely feels a conflict between being a Muslim and being immersed in our society. If you dont like the outcome, dont volunteer dont pay attention - but this 'field' has no room for selfishness.
2nd the resources were NOT WASTED. People need to be smart enough to realize that for this girl to act as she did she had to be in mental distress ; a mental breakdown, a psychotic break- whatever you choose to call it. In that state she is not herself and cannot make rational decisions. It can happen to anyone and it happens everyday to people of all ages and nationalities. It happened to Larry Schnackenberg also of Johnson County and although there were people who wanted and explanation and payback most people let it go because they felt sorry for him, they felt the pressures of getting older and having a daughter getting married caused a breakdown. There was sympathy abound. And it was more because he was a white, upper class man than anything.
When ANY person disappears it does not matter if it was under there OWN VOLITION or AGAINST THEIR WILL; they can be a danger to themselves and others mentally and they can still fall a victim to a crime by someone else in their vulnerable state. It is imperative to find them, and establish their MENTAL AND PHYSICAL SAFETY.
3. The Khan family put up the $10,000 reward from their own pockets. NO MONEY was EVER accepted from the public or organizations. The family elected to give the money to law enforcement to help recoup costs.

@ Caroline ---That Shackenberg reference had me laughing out loud!! ----And , correct me if im wrong----I dont think he(Larry) ever had to explain his actions, or repay the authorities for wasted money and manpower. The authorities will probably bow under pressure from her (Aisha) family and dust this one under the rug.

I think the public deserves an explanation as to where she was while this search was conducted. Nothing wrong with that since manpower and $$ were spent on a search.

1. Hey, Buckwheat, you know what's really not necessary? Calling someone something that needs to be censored. Sorry you were offended at my remark, but it was intended as humor and to point out that this scenario has happened before. People go missing on purpose sometimes without any foul play.

2. I'm glad she wasn't actually abducted or harmed. That said, I wish that she hadn't wasted so many resources. Whatever her reason for disappearing, running away probably did not solve her problems.

As a follower Ayan Hirsi Ali, I've seen many instances of young Muslim women "disappearing"--fleeing arranged (read: forced) marriages, being abducted and shipped back to some 3rd world country to be married off or, worst of all, being murdered for dishonoring her family name.

It's been happening in Canada and Western Europe for years now, so it's just a matter of time before it's commonplace for women from non-assimilating Muslim families to "disappear" on a regular basis.

While I'm glad she was found safe...there are big questions out there. I posed them twice on different local news websites since last Friday...because the story didn't seem plausible. Either she has mental issues...the forced marriage...or like the poster said above...someone might have been trying to get out of finals.

well, I guess the $10,000 reward money can be given to the Police Department for theur expenses. and now the KU Edwards campus says they are installing cameras at the location she fled from and other locations.

Caroline, great comment.

Sick of these attention whores running away.

However, if she ran away because of her arranged marriage then she had just cause. Arranged marriages are prehistoric, disgusting, borderline slavery, and should not fall under freedom of religion.

Its so easy to "jump" to conclusions, and make nasty remarks...BUT...we DON'T know what was going on in her life to make her think she had to run, hide, "get away from it", or get "some needed space"..and, we DON'T know what we would have done if we were walking in her shoes..People do many strange things when under pressure, stressed, ill, etc..I praise the Lord she is safe, & whatever the reasons, she will get help to work it all out..as to the bill for the authorities, I am sure she will have to re-pay as others have in the past..so...lets all rejoice in the fact she's safe, at least for the time being, remember the season we're in, keep our nasty's to ourselves, & have a very Merry Christmas....

How about someone in that family repaying the tax payers for all the money and resources wasted looking for her?????

I hadnt heard she was married until last night when they announced that she was found, and that she was ok.

Since she was married, why was her brother always on the news instead of her husband? Did I just miss something?

justthefactsmaam brings up a good point-was this an arranged marriage between her and some guy 2 or 3 times her age? If so, I have a pretty good idea what happened.

If not, I'm stumped.

For a college student she doesn't have any common sense, She had to know everybody was looking for her and thinking the worse had happenedto her.!Dumb

Was she hanging out in Larry Schnackenberg's old shack in Shawnee Mission Park?

sounds like a fake abduction as a way to get away from either her arranged marriage or her lack of preparation for finals. Charge her for all the wasted police manpower used to look for her while she was sitting at her boyfriends house smoking the hookah pipe.
