Jack-When I hear the phrase "government mandate", my asshole puckers, and immediately wonder how much a lobbyist had pay out in the form of a bribe to get it passed.
Carol, anyone praising Pelosi is part of the problem.

Carol Eblen has some things wrong. When government mandates the purchase of a product (insurance), that industry INCREASES it's profits. If you are fighting the insurance agencies profit motive, mandating the purchase of the very product they produce IS NOT THE WAY TO STOP THEM! You think you deserve the health care of which you deny costs anybody anything. It is ALL paid for by working individuals. These policies are antithetical to anybody ever working to pay for the education and health care of which are so desperately and agreed to as humanitarian. Profit is WHY YOU HAVE THE (medical) TECHNOLOGY OF THE PILL!!!
While fighting transparency tooth and nail, Kathleen Sebelius presided over the Kansas Health Departments' shredding of documents pertaining to late-term abortions in Kansas. In regard to Nazi Gas Chambers, everyone on the planet should watch the documentary "Mr Death: The Rise And Fall Of Fred A. Leuchter, Jr".
Such disgusting comments above! Such ignorance! We have to thank strong democratic women like Secretary Sebelius and Nancy Pelosi for working to bring needed changes to the way health care is delivered in this country.
The President had to fight to bring some of the changes he promised. The compromises were the only way the Health Care Bill could be passed.
No other administrations could beat the Insurance Companies and the special interests who profit from the status quo of health care delivery ---delivered for great profit to the suppliers. Remember, health care is so often more about profits than altruism and, therefore, patients are "product" to be managed for profit.
Let's give President Obama and this plan a chance to succeed and to develop a system that will serve all Americans and not just those who are employed by large corporations and the government.
A vote for the Republicans will mean more of the same ---50,000,000 uninsured ---millions more underinsured and billions of dollars in profits for the insurance companies, the drug manufacturers, and the suppliers.
