As you can see in the photo on the right, these jerks didn't even have the decency to dump it on the side of the road. Come on, buttheads, if you're going to ugly up our city, the least you could do is not block traffic. They could be fined $1,000 and face jail time. The Neighborhood and Community Services Department asks anybody with information about these dumpers to call either 311 or code enforcement Officer Ryan Kasper-Cushman at 816-719-0637, or contact him by e-mail at ryan.cushman@kcmo.org.

With as many people that have fire pits in their backyard, it seems these men went through a lot more effort than necessary.
its just wood, its not littering, it came from the earth, they are just returning it to the earth, how dare kc put a street in the way of their recycling efforts, and where else are they hidin these cameras at?
what i find humorous is that one guy is about to crap his pants, while the other guy looks like he's just telling him how to pull it out of the truck. maybe that's why it ended up in the middle of the road. you just can't find good help these days.
Wouldnt it be nice if the system would just decriminalize the act of shooting litterbugs in broad daylight?
Too bad the camera didn't have enough resolution to capture the license plate number, like those %^$*&@ red light cameras do !
Ten bucks says when they are found, they'll have a driveway big enough for 6 cars...but the Ram will be parked in the street!
So sick and tired: You think this kind of slovenly indifference just began when the city cut back on bulky pickup??? Are you new here? This has been going on for YEARS! And, your suggestion is that we should all do it and then LIE about it, right? What a civilized method of problem solving! And when other crimes of theft and violence occur, we should probably use the same methods, right? We should all do it and simply LIE about it. I feel so encouraged....
PS and WTF?
So the next time you decide to pull over to the side of the road and take a leak just remember, if the city will hide a camera in the bushes at 81st and Wabash, they will hide one anywhere!
The debris in the picture looks like old roller coaster tracks! Isn't 81st and Wabash near where Fairyland Park used to be?
maybe they got bad directions for the "flash mob" location. They thought they were dropping of wood for the fire so all the kids could gather round and have a hot dog and marshmallow roast while singing kumbaya! Since they got rid of the midnight basketball program the kids have to have something to do from midnight to 4 am while their moms are out "clubbin". Sheeeeeet you know that Mayor and the Police Chief done run em off the plaza....
Steve: I take your point. Perhaps I should have used the word "proGRESS," not "mature." And, obviously, "culture" totally does not apply in any sense of the word, so again, I should probably substitute "community." Thanks for the heads up.
Fuck KC's Neighborhood and Community (Lack of) Services Department and the whole incompetent gang at codes enforcement.
They couldn't see this coming when the city got rid of regular bulky item pick-ups? They replaced a system that worked with one that serves only to frustrate people. Frankly I think we need to all pick a day to dump our crap in the middle of the street then deny we saw anything as a way to protest the utter lack of leadership and judgement exhibited by City Hall. Perhaps if city employees had to put in a real day works collecting the evidence of our outrage, they'd have the good sense to give us back our bulky item pick-up.
Urban culture? And you're telling someone else to hurry up and mature?
This is a classic example of what I mean when I bitch about "litter." There seems to be a childish, irresponsible attitude that says, "oh, well, The Man will take care of it." Hurry up and mature, urban culture, so we can all live responsibly and in peace.
HOPE THEY CATCH THE JERKS....BEEN BATTLING THE PROBLEM OF DUMPING FOR OVER 10 YEARS...THEY COME THROUGH THE ALLIE IN BACK OF MY PROPERTY AND DUMP ON THE VACANT LOTS...PLEASE SOMEONE TURN THEM IN AND ANYONE ELSE THEY SEE DUMPING. THEY DON'T WANT TO PAY FEES FOR DUMPING IT LEGALLY, WHAT ABOUT THE PROPERTY OWNER IT COST US TO REMOVE THE JUNK AND THEN WE'RE HAULED INTO COURT....
I'm sure that these good men were simply donating the wood to their community, and placed it in the middle of the street to be sure that someone would see it. These hard working, civic-minded men could teach us a lot about unselfishness and "giving back to the community". I wish that my evil, greedy, white-racist-conservative neighbors here in the suburbs of Johnson County could see the folly of their ways and be more generous with their scrap-wood, waste-paper, and extremely loud music.
