Hey, Pittsburgh, here's what you're getting in Todd Haley

Things may get a little louder in Pennsylvania.

With the news breaking yesterday that the Pittsburgh Steelers have hired former Kansas City Chiefs head coach Todd Haley as their offensive coordinator, it seemed appropriate to offer some insight into what Pittsburgh can expect since this was Mr. Haley's last place of gainful employment.

So this is one time you'll get the straight talk, Steel Town, from the rival grocery-store chain about the new grocery-store bagger you hired. We kept his uniform, but you're getting all the baggage.

What do I get, you ask?

You get a fiery coach, who demands execution and excellence, but perhaps has not yet learned how to delegate or loosen the reins enough to grant players the latitude to fulfill those demands.

... a guy who is committed to growing his beard. His commitment likely falls somewhere between that of Ben Roethlisberger and Brett Keisel, if you're asking for a measurement.

... a savvy offensive mind, who understands that he only really has to gamble if he has less talent on his side of the football.

... a new hire who will definitely be picking his own cellphone plan.

... an FCC fine waiting to happen for the unfortunate network that pans to him after a particularly bad play.

... a caustic wit who can be either great interview fodder or potentially destructive.

... a man who spent the latter half of last season looking so disheveled that he began to undermine all of the street cred that hobos have built up, courtesy of writers like John Hodgman.

Kansas Citians may not mind seeing Haley go, but they will still wish him well in Pittsburgh. And after the showing by the Steelers last season at Arrowhead — it would appear you need all the help you can get.

A win is a win. Good thing football games aren't won by style points.

Lucky Haley gets to return to his hometown of Pittsburgh and the champion, storied football organization led by the Rooney family. Wish it could be me returning to my hometown of Pittsburgh, too!

MGM Grand’s Odds to Win 2013 Super Bowl:
Pittsburgh Steelers 6-1
Kansas City Chiefs 50-1

...as for the 13-9 victory over the Chiefs and needing all the help? Well beating the Chiefs doesn't require much.

Ever see the movie Multiplicity with Micheal Keaton? Each copy gets more and more defective! The Chiefs are a reminder of that!!!!

Haley should do well in that position. The article is pretty caustic and nit picky

I absolutely HATE it when a public figure undermines my street cred with their dishevelment.

I wish Haley well. He didn't like kowtowing to Pioli and taking the heat for no bench and weak talent. Look at what the Chiefs did in the coaching search, they hired Crennel who's never won anything anywhere as a head coach. They couldn't land Fischer because of the poisonous front office atmosphere - he publicly refused to interview with the Chiefs for that reason. They hired an offensive coordinator who has never had any success anywhere either...but he'll toe the Hunt/Pioli line because no one else wants him. All the name OC's they interviewed didn't want the job.....oh and by the way the QB coach want's out too.

Looks to me like Haley got out at a good time, the Chiefs are starting to look at lot like the Royals.....all sizzle and marketing, no money spent on talent or winning coaches. Guys with talent will go win somewhere else... That's a recipe for MEDIOCRITY.....and why I won't be buying what they are serving.

It's going to be funny when Haley is in the playoffs next year while KC is 6-10 again because they hired another New England crony to be the offensive coordinator.
