Rest easy, Missouri motorists, the back end of your automobiles will not be besmirched by a Jayhawk. Gov. Jay Nixon signed a bill yesterday that created a new state fund, the Higher Education Capital Fund, to help finance construction at public universities. The new law also included a clause that requires the Missouri Legislature to approve all specialty military and collegiate license plates.
The license plate measure aimed at keeping Kansas University plates off Missouri cars was sponsored by state Rep. Caleb Jones (R-California) and state Rep. Stephen Webber (D-Columbia), who explained to KMBC Channel 9 that he'd be willing to move to get the law repealed if Kansas agrees to play Missouri in basketball this year. And people say Missouri lawmakers can't find common ground and aren't willing to compromise.
