Weighing in: national sports reporters Jeff Passan (Yahoo Sports) and Sean Keeler (Fox Sports) as well as respected Royals bloggers Rany Jazayerli (Rany on the Royals), Michael Engel (Kings of Kauffman), Bob Stalder (Pine Tar Press), Bill Ivie Jr. (I-70 Baseball), Jeff Zimmerman (Royals Review), and Craig Brown (formerly of Royals Authority, which merged into Royals Review).
The Royals will make the playoffs in ______:
Jeff Passan: 2015 because I'd like to think by then they'll get some pitching. I don't want to be the guy who says like 2027. I don't want to be mean. Frankly, that's probably more realistic just because they're at such a disadvantage monetarily, financially.
Craig Brown: 2014 because Ned Yost will no longer be manager.
Michael Engel: 2013 because it'll come together.
Bill Ivie Jr.: 2012 because this division is weak and they are capable.
Bob Stalder: 2014 because the current group of players (with the addition of Myers, Odorizzi), plus the return of Duffy and the return of John Lamb will finally get them over the hump.
Jeff Zimmerman: 2020 because Dayton Moore will finally be gone.
Rany Jazayerli: 2013 or 2014 because they have so much young talent that even they would be hard-pressed to screw it up, and because the AL Central is very winnable.
