Birther Orly Taitz sues to keep Obama off Kansas ballot

Earlier this week, the Kansas State Objections Board (well, Secretary of State Kris Kobach was the only member to actually show up) decided that President Barack Obama would appear on the ballot in the state in November. Manhattan resident Joe Montgomery had complained to the board that Obama wasn't born in the country, and therefore was not eligible to run. The president was, of course, born in the country, and Kobach — who has flirted with birthers in the past — tossed the complaint.

Pitch writer Jonathan Bender wrote on Tuesday that maybe "the nation can move on to some other state." That Bender is so naive, I tell ya. On Thursday, nutburger California dentist and mascot of the birther movement Orly Taitz filed a lawsuit in Shawnee County District Court seeking an injunction to keep the president off the Kansas ballot.

The AP reports that Taitz is representing a registered Kansas voter named Roger Walters, but the suit doesn't list his address. A hearing will be held in Topeka October 3.
