Royals get Shields, give up Myers in blockbuster trade

It's been 21 years since the Kansas City Royals had a starting pitcher (Bret Saberhagen) with a World Series victory on his resume. It's been 10 years since they've had a starting pitcher (Jeff Suppan) with a World Series appearance. That streak ended last night when the Royals
traded for James Shields and Wade Davis. They sent Wil Myers, Jake Odorrizi, Mike Montgomery and Patrick Leonard to the Tampa Bay Rays in the deal.
Yahoo's Big League Stew has eight reasons that this is a bad trade for the Royals. Yahoo's Jeff Passan contends that this was a necessary trade for a town desperate for a winner and a general manager desperate for starting pitching. ESPN suggests that Shields and Davis will "bring nasty stuff to KC."
It's a Monday morning. We've got a big deal to discuss. The Royals now have an ace, but they had to give up the farm to do it. Was it the right move for the Royals?
