"We just signed the lease," said co-founder Elizabeth Bejean last week. "And there's no better way to celebrate my 50th birthday."
RevolveKC opened its first location at 5100 Troost in August 2011 with the intention of getting Kansas Citians on bicycles. Last week, co-founder Elizabeth Bejan (who started the nonprofit with Theresa M. Van Ackeren of Family Bicycles) stood at the desk of the former auto shop as the bike shop's mechanic, Paul Villasi, fine-tuned a bike up on a lift. Vintage Schwinns were stacked next to children's bikes, the former waiting to be sold to help fund the distribution of the latter.
"We can help more people," Bejan said. "It will be exciting to get rolling."
