But to the world of paper checkers, grocery store circular creators and birthday card senders, it's a big deal. The Washington Post reports that Hallmark has hired a lobbyist to continue its now annual fight to keep the U.S. Post Office from ending Saturday mail delivery. The Post notes that Hallmark spent $240,000 on lobbying efforts in 2012. The U.S. Postal Service maintains that eliminating mail on Saturdays will save more than $2 billion annually and provide badly needed cost cuts for an agency that lost $15.9 billion in the last budget year. Congress may still need to approve the shift from six- to five-day delivery.
If it indeed goes the way of the Pony Express, would you miss mail on Saturdays?
